Students will embark on a creative journey to master key artistic concepts. They’ll explore balance, symmetry, and asymmetry to craft engaging compositions and understand the use of positive and negative shapes. The course covers shading techniques for depicting depth and light effects, color theory to evoke emotions and create harmony, and methods for creating the illusion of space. Students will also refine observational drawing skills to capture real-life details and perspectives, building both technical abilities and creative confidence.

Life Drawing/Narrative art
Ages 12-14
Students will expand on their previous understanding of the Elements of Art, building on the foundations established in their Intermediate art studies. We will emphasize advanced concepts in color theory, value, contrast, and proportion through a variety of performance assessments.
Students will explore and differentiate between Two-Dimensional shapes and Three-Dimensional forms. They will refine their skills in drawing, painting, and other techniques to effectively organize and express ideas, feelings, and moods.
This course serves as a crucial bridge between grade school and secondary art education, preparing students for potential portfolio development and meeting future collegiate requirements.
